Our group had a pretty close call on the Woods hill road yesterday.
Someone descided they would overtake another large group of cyclists (Fat Boys I think), on a blind corner, solid white line, and we were on the other end of the corner.
All caught on video. Details passed to SAPOL who followed it up yesterday.

This is awful. This is not an isolated event as there have been many other caught on video as well as seeing it myself.  The change of laws was bad and encourages dangerous overtaking on blind corners. This law change was not good for cyclists, nor car drivers.

Which bike advocacy group is going to stick its neck out and say that they supported overtaking on double lines?

Wow, that was close. It's a hard one. To give a group 1m passing distance the car is allowed to cross over the white line but, as I always experience, not many are patient enough to wait until they can safely pass. Some can see there is oncoming traffic etc but still pass because they have no idea how to drive a car. I think it is only a matter of time before there is an accident and the law is tested.
