Marion Council is proposing new bikeway work along Railway Terrace in Edwardstown (and a tiny bit of Ascot Park), between Cross Road and Sixth Avenue, apart from the section they have already done…Continue

Since this has happened for a few other councils... has anyone done any research on the candidates for Marion Council elections, regarding their policies on cycling?Continue

Fooled by the weather radar

Started this discussion. Last reply by Jilden May 30, 2018. 10 Replies

Tonight a glance at weather radar looked all clear (very much like this screenshot from after I got home). But it had me fooled, and it steadily drizzled pretty well all the way home. So does rain…Continue

Is it legal to ride on the footpath when there is a bicycle lane present?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Keith Apr 24, 2018. 4 Replies

The question says it all! Today a police officer cautioned me. (He said this applies to footpaths, not shared paths).I tried to politely say that isn't how I'd seen the law presented, but I let it go…Continue

"OK, I now see that council did indeed vote to do various improvements to the path. But they also voted to request a speed limit, and this was the only thing reported on. Furthermore, they did not only request a speed limit, but also said, as Heather…"

"Nice find, Heather. I will add some details. The survey was done at one of the light poles on the shared path adjacent to Gallery Road, Highbury. Survey was done using a "detection loop", which I assume is a pair of those black rubber(?)…"

Peter B replied to Equal2lance's discussion Speed limits proposed for River Torrens?
"Yes, the only point of having a speed limit is getting it enforced by police. And if they are going to enforce a rule, why not enforce the existing rule: that cyclists must always give way to pedestrians on a shared path. All they need to do is…"

"I don't think you can deny that 25(?) years of cyclists riding over those semi-loose pavers is going to have a significant effect. (I can remember the path being there in the late to mid 90s, so I'd day it is at least 25 years old). The…"

Peter B replied to Equal2lance's discussion Mike Turtur Bikeway Upgrade 4m wide
"I'm not sure I like the idea of removing significant trees to widen the path. Yes the surface needs upgrading and there are some overhanging or outhanging branches that need to go; but I don't think it needs to be 4 metres wide necessarily."
