Pedal 4 a Cause

Posted on May 22, 2012 at 0:53 0 Comments

Only 4 months left for our next ride. This time raising money for Lifelibe. We driving to Woomera then being left off the chain to ride from Woomera up to the Oonadatta Track, across to Marree and down to Adelaide. We will be using out off road bikes as well as our road bikes. Sponsors are few and far between at the moment especially accommodation and there will be a few cool nights out camping. So looking forward to an adventure again.

Hi guys.. I have been pretty pissed off at a certain cricket player's attack on a cyclist in Melbourne.. I mean, I have let loose on Foxsport website and Facebook ..But then I started to think about the number of times I have seen cyclists doing stupid things (and it is the minority).

Lets face it, we choose a clean healthy form of transport and are by definition intelligent and courteous people.

But how many have actually sought out the road rules for cyclists.. Well if you…

Made it today into Port Lincoln. 707 km since we started. Had 40-42 deg days, Hot headwinds, thunderstorms, long rolling plains, hills that seemed to go up but few that went down but got here.

A great ride and thanks to out support drivers Maylee and Darren.

No mechanical bike probe on the way, not even a puncture between the 4 of us. Cars , trucks and road trains all gave us plenty of room and a toot (thanks guys) except one kamikaze road train who over took…

Left at 0600 as was forcats 37 deg and northerlies 30knots. Mad good time..Needless to say, around 1030 the temp started to rise. On the cycle computers it was regestering 42 degrees and the wind was about that temp also. Made it in about 1335. Admit had a 10 min ride in the car. That made it worse when got out to the hot road again. But we made it. Tomorrow Whyalla.

Greg, I have an old quilt that could be used for animal bedding. I live close to the CBD so not inclined to drop items at RSPCA Lonsdale. Any suggestions? Heather

Hi Greg,

Welcome to the AC group of Look For Cyclists. The idea is to collate data that is pertinent to cyclist safety and collisions. A cyclist might want info on insuring their bike, or what to do after a collision. The long term aim is to use info on collisions, near misses, cyclists assaulted & objects thrown, studies and legislation to lobby for improved cycling conditions.

Cheers, Heather

Hi Greg,

Welcome to Adelaide Cyclists. You might be interested in the AC group Commuters and, if you cycle in the city, Adelaide BUG which I coordinate.

Do you know if the RSPCA takes old clothing for animal bedding? My local council sends it to landfill.

Cheers, Heather
