The event day preparations started pre-dawn at Home Grain Bakery at Aldinga, with the sound of thousands of galahs which have made the local area home drowning out many an attempt to communicate!
The wonderful folks at the bakery were already up and about and filling the pie warmer with meat pies and the most amazing smelling vegan sausage rolls, straight out of the baker's oven!
Soon enough, riders started arriving to confirm their registration and pay their fee, which included the cost the ride, a donation to MIFSA as well as receiving a pie/vegan sausage roll at the start and a brownie at half way. Not terrible value for $10!
All sorts of riders turned up to support the cause, from the racers to the little kids.
After the ride briefing, people got underway to the midway-stop at Home Grain Bakery at McLaren Flat
Soon enough, people made the return journey back to the Aldinga Bakery! The smiles on people's faces said it all!
Thanks to Home Grain Bakery at Aldinga and McLaren Vale, Smudge Monkees, Aldinga Sharks Footy Club, Oxygen Cycles, Adelaide Cyclists and our band of registration and on-road volunteers, who made sure everything ran smoothly on the road. We had an amazing 92 people take part and we look forward to seeing more people take part in the Winter version, scheduled for either late August or early September.
