The Muddies

A road cycling group based in the southern suburbs. Social/training rides will be held on alternate Saturday mornings  starting from various locations, see the "Events" section of this site for details of the next ride.

All riders with sufficient fitness to tackle the undulations and hills of the Fleurieu peninsula and Adelaide hills are welcome.

Riders ride at their own risk of injury or bicycle damage and are strongly advised to have some form of cycle specific insurance.

A tail end Charlie will usually be appointed on each ride to ensure no one gets left behind.

No stops except bidon fills sounds fine to me.  the forecast is around 42 max, but unlike a couple of weeks ago, the minimums are still quite low, so for much of the ride it shouldn't be too bad.  (thats what i'm telling myself anyway).

will keep an eye out for smoke in the am.

I'm still planning on heading out in the morning. Bottom of Humpty 0720ish. Most of you will be on the road before me so I suggest you check CFS  before you head out as the southern fire bug seems to be active around our proposed route again.

Personally, I'm not planning on any stops other than bidon refills, probably at Clarendon. It will be too hot too quick for me to mess around at a bakery tomorrow.

Oh and just so we are clear - Baron's rear wheel is MINE! :-)

"They are half my age (or less)" you say Gill...  they'd barely be out of nappies! I'd better come and have a look chaperone you lot :-)

that sounds fine Gill.  at this stage, i will see you there.

for other southerners looking to join, i will ride to black/main rd.  proposed route is reynell rd, fraser ave through to education, along happy valley dve, up manning and along black.

Gill, i will also head home from the top of chandlers on the return, continuing up clarendon rd and then along piggot range.

@ Rob.I need to commit to something or I'll just stay in bed! So, I'll be at cnr of Black/Main Rds (bottom of Humpty) at 7.20am. Up to Clarendon, down Bakers, along Kangarilla Rd. Temp will determine how far I go. Sketchy gameplan is: I'm hoping to accidentally-on purpose meet up with a couple of girls who seem to be local to me and might be heading up Humpty. They are half my age (or less) so I might still  be bringing up the rear   :(

sorry im on a ride trying out new avanti carbon bike.... not mine, must not purchase!

given the unofficial nature of the event this weekend, the pace will be largely dictated by those who attend, and given i'm the one making all the noise at the moment, its hardly likely to be too hot ;-).  i just put the word out on the muddies page as it was the muddies week to ride.

a nice scenic shady ride sounds good Gill.  are you riding?  at the moment it looks like myself, Paul and Rene will be in.  i'll be up for a nice early start to beat the heat.

I'm heat hopeless and still not Muddy material. Rode in similar conditions last Sat and can recommend Humpty/Clarendon/Blewitt Sp regions as they are fairly shady and reasonably pleasant early morning. Not sure about debris at the moment though. Hopefully car traffic will have sorted that out by Saturday.
