Hi West Torrens BUG, just joined and as I live in Brooklyn Park and cycle along the Linear Park and around a bit, my main interest is in making better facilities for cyclists!  Anyone else interested?

A photo at alerted me that the footbridge in Holland Street, Thebarton, West Torrens has been closed.
On 9-Feb-2011 sent the following email to West Torrens and Charles Sturt Councils.
The footbridge of Holland Street, Thebarton, has been closed by two councils, West Torrens and Charles Sturt. Could you please tell me how long it is planned to close the bridge? I hope it will be re-opened soon so that pedestrians and cyclists can again use the bridge. Thank you.

About 2 months ago the bit between Marion rd and Stonehouse ave got ripped up and replaced, in the space of a few days. I think it was due to tree roots ripping up the track.

Wrote an email to the WTCC about the rundown condition of the Westside path last week. Got reply from the Councillor and then the Executive. Already ground cover (path cover??) at the Sir Donald Bradman Drive end has been trimmed back, waiting to see what else happens. Its a pity that our facilities are neglected, this seems to be a common problem no matter which Council is involved. Will update as work progresses.

Just returned from Mark Frances victory party !! He look quite oddly at me when I asked him "will the busses now run on time?" Not that I catch them, I just found it a Ironic thing to say :)

I sent an E-mail to my parents neigbour who is standing in the West Torrens elections. his reply was as follows;

"Too right Ted, fully support anything that gets people active and I am keen to look at getting more bikeways in the area. I am also keen to get the council to support a "bike for kids" ride from the City to Glenelg using our bikeways, might be a fundraiser for a good charity."

Prospect Council and the State Government are in the process of 'upgrading' arterial and freight route Churchill Road. Is this the next freight route where a cyclist will die? Please help me to stop this 'upgrade' now.
Photos include:
– Trucks in convoy on the 'before' / eastern side.
– The 'after' / western side. Indented parking bays are visible in the recently extended footpath. Near the new kerb is the white line that remains of the bicycle lane. With the road being narrowed, would you cycle here?
See 'look what they've done to my bike lane' at Prospect BUG.
Prospect Council has similar ideas for arterial Prospect Road.
