Police are at the scene of a serious crash at Murray Bridge. Just before 4.30pm, police and emergency services were called to an area on Maurice Rd after reports that a car and bicycle had collided. The male rider of the bicycle is being flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition. A young girl who was riding another bicycle was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Road closures are in place near Bywaters Rd. Major Crash investigators are attending the scene, and please avoid the area if possible.

Not a good week for cyclists in SA with death of Caleb Scott on Friday http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/law-order/parents-of-caleb-scott...
This is very sad news indeed
In addition a teenager died a few days ago in Whyalla.
does anyone know if findings / recommendations from major crash investigations are publicly available in SA?
The images of the Murray Bridge incident on the Advertiser do not look good. Child's bike up on the outer edge of the footpath, fathers bike some distance down the road hard up against the footpath and the car with its two left side wheels on the footpath. Looks like a painted "bike lane" symbol on the road as well.
As a father who rides with kids who would be a similar age to the young girl, I can only hope for the best for the injured man.
that photo puts a pit in my stomach and really hard to shake......
in the same boat Michael as a dad who rides with a daughter and she's now started going on her own to school on the bike.....
how does that happen....
Sadly the Murray Bridge cyclist has also died.
It looks very much like he was in a cycling/parking lane on a straight road and just struck from behind by the car. I hope police are taking a close look at the driver's record and mobile phone usage.
Sad. Daniel Thompson, 28yo, father of three, and his injuries witnessed by his 5yo daughter.
Do wonder if the driver was 'distracted'.

Daniel Thompson, 28yo, from Murray Bridge, was a member of Murraylands Cycle Speedway.

Today a funeral service for Ian Glenister, 69yo, from Unley.
My non-cycling friend knows the relatives.
Adelaide is a small community, and always sad when a fellow cyclist is a casualty.
