Serious Crash at West Beach

Military Rd is currently closed due to a serious crash at West Beach.
Police and emergency services were called to Military Rd about 10.20am on Monday 10-Jun-2019 after reports of a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian and two cyclists.
The pedestrian sustained critical injuries in the crash and is being taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, while the two cyclists sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Military Rd is closed between West Beach Rd and Africaine Rd and motorists are asked to avoid the area.
Major Crash Investigators are attending the scene.
Later I saw the TV news and images. Surprised that the crash occurred in this 'safer' section and that the vehicle accessed a footpath on the opposite side of the road.
Regarding the cyclists: reported that the man suffered a painful broken leg, to the alarm of his young son.

The man was hit by a van while on a walk with his wife and children on Military Rd on Monday.
The van then veered across the oncoming lane of traffic and hit a father and son who were cycling up the coastal road, before crashing into a power pole.
His wife made the decision to turn his life support off on Wednesday afternoon.
Major Crash officers are investigating whether the driver of the van suffered a medical episode prior to the crash.
