Heard on the news that a ‘professional cyclist’ died today.
No name released but might be a very keen cyclist known to some AC members.
Sad news whenever a cyclist is killed in a road crash.

Update: Highway open following fatal crash at Kingsford
Posted by SAPOL on 13-Nov-2019 2.37pm
Major Crash is investigating a fatal crash at Kingsford.
Just after 7am today (Wednesday 13-Nov-2019), police and emergency services were called to the Sturt Highway just south-west of Argent Road, after a Kia sedan travelling north-east collided with a cyclist travelling in the same direction.
The rider, a 47yo man from Hallett Cove sadly died at the scene. The driver of the Kia, a 26yo man from Greenwith, was not injured but was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital as a precaution.
The Sturt Highway was closed for sometime but has since reopened to all traffic.
The man’s death takes the State’s road toll to 97 as compared to 63 for the same time last year.

Photos. Did the driver fail to leave a metre clearance while overtaking the cyclist?

Paralympic cyclist Kieran Modra killed while riding north of Adelaide

Another tragedy!

It's a four lane divided highway, with good sight lines. I think the driver wasn't paying attention and I think there should be consequences for the driver...

What a tragedy .. so unnecessary. Struck from behind..

It looked like it happened at one of those long left turn lanes, where a cyclist is left in riding in the middle of two lanes for a long period of time which increases their chances of being hit.

Kieran was a great athlete, it's such a tragedy.

I'm trying to organise a ghost bike for Kieran. If anybody has any components or would like to be a caretaker for the bike (they get vandalised quite often) please message me here or on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/GhostBikesSA/.
