Sadly, there was another cycling fatality yesterday, this time near Mount Gambier. That is the 3rd on SA roads this year (a 4th one, a death in the parklands, does not appear to be n the road toll).

"Police have reported the driver of car following a fatal crash involving a cyclist south of Mt Gambier in the State's South-East.

Just before 9.30am on Thursday 22 March, emergency service crews responded to calls of crash between a car and a cyclist on the Riddoch Highway near the Mt Salt road at Mt Schank .

Sadly the cyclist, an 80-year-old man from Mt Gambier, died at the scene.

Major Crash Investigators attended the scene and earlier today reported a 21-year-old man from Mount Gambier for aggravated careless driving. He will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

The Riddoch Highway was closed between Sisters Road and Mt Salt Road for several hours but has since been reopened.

The man’s death brings the State’s road toll to 16 compared with 15 at the same time last year."
