Had a chuckle when I noticed the update sat next to this update from the group 'Meanwhile in Australia' in my FB updates
Rachel Smith is a strong proponent of these. She's put together a useful pdf booklet based on the Danish 'cykelstier'.
The more I think about it the more it makes sense to implement these here since people generally have further between work and home than most European cities. I am sure that some would argue that the Mike Turtur bikeway would be an example of a bicycle highway, but for that to happen you would need to have straight uninterupted bike trails running below/above intersecting roads and generally separated from car traffic.
