This is what the P Rides are about! As the name suggests we will be climbing Old Willunga hill, this is a 3km long climb averaging about 7%. This ride takes the shortest route to the base of the hill while traffic volumes are low then uses quieter roads and tracks after the climb to keep us a little safer. Approximate distance is 55 km's with an elevation gain of around 680m.
Please check out the route at: http://www.strava.com/routes/764923
Ultimately this is a self managed group ride with an expected average pace for the entire ride of around 18 to 20 kph. As a rough guide, if you have already climbed Old Willunga Hill, Chandlers Hill road, Pennys Hill road or Wickhams hill road then you will mange this ride.
7:30 briefing for a 7:45 start.
Regular regroups are encouraged to allow slower riders to catch up and rehydrate.
This route has been created especially for the following types of riders:
This route is not for:
Be aware, this is a long ride and will take regular P riders about 2 to 2 1/2 hours to complete so slower riders could increase the ride length significantly.
Under normal circumstances I expect to return to Becks Bakehouse before 10:30 am.
If you have ever wanted to go on group rides, the most important thing is to GET STARTED.
All riders with a mechanically sound road or flat bar type bike and an approved helmet are welcome.
All riders ride at their own risk and are advised to have public liability insurance, and to carry emergency contact details.
