Thank you for your invitation to join your group but I think you are a bit advanced for me. Currently my limit is about 25km at about 15kph with a few stops. Also I am not confident riding on the road with cars etc and prefer to stick to off road trails or bikeways - I have riden the Jack Bobridge trail from Gawler to Lyndoch and found it quite enjoyable, this is the sort of thing I am interested in, so if you have any beginners rides like this, please let me know.

I am new to the area but currently living in Gawler. what is the protocol for attending the social group ride? do I need to request permission, qualify etc first?

I would wish to join the beginners rides (unless flat) as I only have my fixed bike here until my road bike arrives next year.

Thanks Wilson  I am really enjoying the company of the other riders. No doubt my cycling will improve also. A great group of people who have made me feel very welcome.

Hi Wilson,

It's Renee here. My apologies for not saying goodbye to you, and Gary, and all the fantastic people from Gawler Wheelers. I was not expecting to leave so suddenly and miss the rides there.

It's a shame there isn't a group that would match up to the Gawler Wheelers where I am now (Beechworth Victoria).

Hope your parents move to Queensland went well, big change for you.

Cheers

Renee

Hi Wilson,

Thanks for the warm welcome! I've recently moved back to Adelaide after 13 years in Perth, but unfortunately don't live very close to Gawler, although I'm impressed at how organised your group is, it looks great...

I'm actually starting a GPS cycle tracking website, which is about to launch. I'm looking for people to help test the website and the Android app if you know anyone that may be willing to be involved, and I'd really appreciate it if you would support us by adding your routes (I can help make that easier if you are adding a lot), group details and letting your members know that we're around and local. We'll be small to start with (obviously) and are not exactly competitive with Strava or Map My Ride yet, but being small and local we can be responsive to the needs of locals. We're initially going for more of a social site than a competitive one, but will add ride comparisons, etc later as demand requires. There is a beta version available to look at now, but you can have a peek of the new look site at www.cyclemycity.com/j32 if you are interested. We hope to roll out the new look site in a week or so, as soon as our Android app is ready to go, so if you are willing to support us I can help get things set up before you let anyone know, and let you know of the launch date.

Matthew.

Hi Gawler Wheelers

Thank you for your comment welcoming me to the forum.

Would any of your members be interested in supporting the Ride to Conquer Cancer as a part of our Bike Tech team? We could of course get them out riding in their Gawler Wheelers jerseys :)

Let me know if you would be interested at adelaidecrew@conquercancer.org.au and I can provide some more information!

Kind Regards

Kristen

Thanks Wilson.

I have been looking to join for some time however kids sports commitments have held me back. Members I came across last week and their open approached to join certainly was a key.

Hi Wilson, thanks for the invite and making me feel part of the society, I am up in the hills Meadows bit far to go to Gawler. I not ridden for like 10 years as all way are up from here and I got slack. Hoping when the weather gets better venture down the Adelaide Flats and start get some Km's in. Cheers

Hi Wilson,

Thanks for the invite to your ride group, unfortunately I live too far away to participate with you, I live at Glengowrie, so Gawler is a little out of the way for me :(

Although I will keep it in mind if I am out that side of town one day.

Good work inviting new people to your ride group though :)

Safe riding

Hi Wilson.  I would like to come out on some rides with you guys.  I am doing the Ride to Conquer Cancer and haven't ridden as a group before.  My riding experience is very limited although I have done the Amy Gillett a number of times, but that was with a friend and on an old mountain bike.  I am 51 years old and consider myself reasonably fit but I  know I am not that fast on a bike yet.  I have purchased a Orbea Road bike with carbon frame and am told it is quite a nice bike.  With some training I should be able to keep up with the rides.  I would also like to purchase a Gawler Wheeler Jersey how do I go about that?  Cheers Andrea

Thanks for the invitation Wilson. Unfortunately, I haven't got a bike yet and live too far from Gawler to participate. Very impressive website you folk have created. My, how things have improved since I was last cycling! Cheers, Philip
