Thanks Gus, Im honored to be the 3000th member, looking forward to some group rides, Ive been bitten by the bug and are loving it, Thanks for the message!
Pleased to see you enjoying yourself in Barmera. Nice quiet place to ride. But your right not many hills. Those magpies have been there for years, I go a different way to avoid them.
Firstly thanks for building such an awesome community. Whilst it doesn't show it from my limited posts, the Adelaide Cyclist website is one of my favourite cycling specific websites. Its great to meet, albeit briefly the creator.
Also thanks for the tips and kind encouragements. I'm taking your advice on board and will be intending to ride as much hills as time permits so I can be in shape for the 2nd edition of the "bakers dozen".
Cool Gus , always good to hear someone's listening . Got to love Three D Radio !! I only do the one show, Untouchable Sound ,every other Sunday 8-10am .
That's exactly what Noel told me too Angus. I didn't realize he viewed Focus frames higher than Orbea until he told me. He wasn't overly forthcoming with that information either until I asked him for an honest opinion. It also didn't sound like he was trying to up sell either.
That said though, I have nothing against Orbea, they are a great looking frame, and have quality components, and a fantastic warranty but the paint scheme, frame design and overall look of the bike didn't overtly strike me as masculine as the Focus frame. (don't publicly quote me on this...haha) I guess it all comes down to opinion, but that is mine.
Noel also mentioned how he had very few Focus bikes back with warranty issues, but also stated that there was no such thing as a perfectly built bike. So expect excellent quality but don't expect perfection, and bring the bike in if adjustments are required.
I am real excited about the bike fit tomorrow. Sounds pretty dumb but I have never had anything custom made for me ever, and to be able to get this sort of attention to detail towards a sport that I have grown to really enjoy is fantastic. It's an experience I will gladly share once all is done.
Yeah I saw the date of review and the pictured bike did look a bit different to the 2011 version in the shop. Not to worry though, if the review back then was positive, I assume that will translate even better to the later model version.
Is it true that is some CF creaking noises you have to deal with when metal rubs on CF?
Regardless, I am sure Noel will have a fix for it.
Thanks Angus. I came in wearing my AC t-shirt and he instantly linked me with you...haha.
As for the compact crank, I will need to ask him, but as I said in my thread, I did mention to him about me liking hill climbs and needing the bike to handle hills. I remember him possibly mentioning a compact crank arrangement, but I was too enthralled at the bike at the time to question what he meant...haha.
I hope the warranty issues arent too much of an issue for you mate. let me know if its something I will need to worry about. I doubt it will sway my decision too much between now and tomorrow, but its always good to know if there is any inherent issues to watch for.
Angus ...I wonder if you have any contact for Tom Eltridge Smith - victim of a malicious assault & bike crash ( same time ) a few years ago ..? I can't find any trace of him at WWW wtc...I am interested in the outcome of his rehab, plus legal progress , if any ...if you could fwd this, or otherwise any news, I'll be grateful / Grace 8344 8031
Realise that some stolen bike reports are old, but then members know of 22+ bikes stolen this year. Decided to add the other 8 earlier reports for completeness.
Now when another stolen report, I will be able to refer the member to the discussion 'IF bike stolen'.
Thanks very much for those directions Angus! I had a day off yesterday so I only got to try the route this morning (but turned R instead of L on Payneham Road!) It was lovely & peaceful riding thru St Peters. I will give it another go tonight and hopefully get it right! Thanks again for your help! Really appreciated!

Gus,
can the winter kit be seen anywhere, Bike Station? perhaps.
Maybe we should organise a Focus only bike ride :-)

HI Gus,
I was just wondering if we could search members by their 'On Line' status?
Cheers,
Pete.
Hi Gus,
I have been unable to change my email address on the website.
Are you able to help?

Hi Gus, That poster / image is wonderful, Thank you! So very apt (and it works too!). :-)
Hi Angus
not everyday I hear of someone outside of Scouts (I presume) who followed our blog. Thanks for the welcome to the website :-)
