Masahiro Asakura’s removable hand warmers for chilly bicycle handlebars are inspired by traditional Japanese hot-water bottles.

Yutanpo are Japan’s traditional hot water bottles, in aluminium, ceramics, or rigid plastic. Inspired by their ultra-simple heating system, Japanese designer Masahiro Asakura has created removable steel grips for bicycle handle-bars. Filled with hot water, the handles function as hand-warmers, for a comfortable winter ride. When the water is cold, the handles make convenient watering cans for plants.
