Why i love Triathlon....Yes it is 1/3 cycling!

Today I had another opportunity to race with a professional triathlete. Matty White, pro Ironman competitor and Adelaide's own was competing in the final race of the JT cycles Triathlon series.

Triathlon allows people of all abilities to compete side by side with people from elite to first timers....No egos (well they might be put away for the day), and no requirement for the high-end equipment (although it does help and nice to have).

Sure I suffer severe cases of bike envy (like any keen cyclist) but the I continue to see people getting out there with everything from the daughters BMX (yes it was pink and no a girl wasn't riding it...Dont ask not sure what was going on there), to the latest Tri/TT machines.

Today I finished in the top 20 with a Pro (who obviously finished number 1). How many other sports can you do that in?

Agree.. not alot of sports let you participate with pros.. like ride alongside pros.. sorta like this years Twitter ride.. rode along with a few of the astana boyz.
Triathlon is really getting popular.
Though not for me as a very weak swimmer..

I love triathlons too, I'm an okay swimmer, good cyclist and terrible runner but I end up finishing the same time as all the skinny fitter looking chicks, how awesome is that!

Well done Darren. JT cycles triathlons are great fun.

I love triathlons. I want to get back into them next season (one of the reasons I bought the roadie). The swim is my strongest leg and the run my weakest leg, I basically dislike running and not very good at it. As an ex-competitive swimmer/surf life saver I have excellent and somewhat freakish upper body strength and bugger all in the legs, that is why I am not the fastest/strongest cyclist but it is a weakness which I am working on. At least in tri's I have the advantage of getting ahead in the swim then everyone chases me in the cycle and run legs.

It might be worth mentioning that the JT Cycles series has a swim and spin event that is held in conjunction with the main triathlons.
