I went on a “Thursday Rural Ride” with the Adelaide Touring cyclists today.

While there was a small chance of a small amount of rain forecast we didn't see any rain.

The autumn scenery was quite pleasant and the leaves ar just beginning to turn colour.

The ride started at Woodside near the CFS and Pool and the group of eight travailed to the Lobethal Bakery for morning tea.

Via all sorts of roads and scenery

The number of times I have visited this business on a bicycle I wonder if they should have bike parking?

After a coffee and a cake for some the group travelled to Birdwood via sealed and unsealed roads where there was a lunch stop at the oval.

Then to Mount Torrens, Charleston via some back roads and back to Woodside via the Amy Gillet Bikeway.

The ride distance was just under 50 Km.

I found the unsealed and undulating surfaces challenging and feel like I will sleep well tonight.

It has been suggested if you ride in the hills you will find lots of hills.

What's to say the hills weren't named after the roads? :-)

Looks like a really pleasant ride.

Wow looks lovely! Tempting to chuck a sickie from the daily grind for that sort of ride

But of course the hills were named after the pioneering farmers that built the farms around there, like Messrs Burford, Kumnick, Checker and co. The names that the hills had before that are mainly lost to history, along with their tribal owners. Lovely country none the less. I hope to be on next week's rural ride, work permitting. :-)

Being busy at work can be an imposition on the rest of you like but it does give job security.
