The pump

As the pump was one of the easiest things to remove from the bike, I thought I would check this out first. The first thing I noticed after taking it off was that it had water in it, a pump or two of the handle removed that, and extending the handle all the way revealed a lot of pitting. The pump was cleaned up with a plastic scourer and some elbow grease.

A little oil on the rubber plunger and once reassembled I managed to inflate the rear tyre to a usable pressure. How the pump stays on the tyre valve without a lever to crimp the pump head onto the valve I have no idea, it just works.

The frame bit I understand, but it seems to only be a rubber bush the holds the pump to the tyre valve during inflation.
