This group ride was organised by Andrew Watts (Wattsy) on the Adelaide Cyclists web site as the Southern Suburbs Road Cyclists "L" Ride number 3. Intended to attract new riders with a nice slow pace and not to difficult or long a distance it helps build a community of riders down the South of Adelaide. Today we started with 12 riders, most were experienced with a few new to group riding. Husband and wife from Seaford, Tracey and Daz were new to group riding while Paul, Chris, Shav and Spartacus were new to this group.
The weather forcast for this ride looked grim turning some people off turning up at all however it was unfortunate for them as the weather turned out to be almost perfect without any rain falling during the 40km undulating ride. I had decided to drive down to the meeting place at the Port Noarlunga Instititue car park so that if it did rain then I had some dry clothes to change in to. On arrival I could see cars but no riders, it turned out they had escaped to Beck's for a warm up coffee before the ride.
Thank you to Matt B for loaning me a rain jacket as I believe this is why the rain stayed away ;-) After the ride I gave the rain jacket back and it started to spit! We set off towards Moana a little later than planned but only by 5 mins at around 7:50am.
Colin lead the group out with Wattsy following up at the back. RD6 was keeping Colin company at the front while the rest of us mixed it up in loose pairs. This was indeed a social ride and as such..... [ to read more please go to http://www.pcsa.net.au/?p=2556 ]
