We all have them and use them as motivation. Sometimes they are a little unclear or hazy and sometimes they are bold and clear as the light of day.
I have a primary goal to loose some weight. There are a couple of reasons for this neither of which are because I am at an unhealthy weight. I'm not and would be comfortable with my current slightly overweight self except when I ride my bike. Let's face it, Lycra shows every extra kg and that's not nice, no that's not it either except it reminds me I have it!
I guess it stems back to my need to compete against myself and the confirmation of what I already knew when I listened to a youtube video by the now infamous Lance Armstrong about the tested correlation between times to climb hills on a bike and weight.
I now can not remember the exact words just the intent in them. I am not sure if it was "for every extra pound you carry it will take you 30 seconds longer to climb a 10 km hill" or if it was "for every 1kg you carry it will take you 60 seconds longer to climb a 10 km hill" either way the inference is that if I get rid of the excess 10 kg's in body fat then I will be able to climb hills faster.
I want to climb hills faster or should I say not as slowly! Let's face it if you had to carry 10 kg's on your back its not to difficult on the flat but if you tried to walk up steps with it you would feel how much harder it is.
Oh, now its clearer, I have 2 goals, to loose about 10 kg's and to climb hills not as slowly.
I would be better off with less weight at all three of these events. With only 2 weeks to Amy's ride with a low fitness base I needed to improve fitness and lose weight. Its not much time to do either so I am having to take some drastic action to make a difference.
