Its not intended to be a guide or a definitive list of requirement, its simply an account of what I have done, what seems to make a difference, and how I am satisfied with the results.
So you are new to cycling like I was only 8 months ago. You would like to know how much it will cost you in maintenance and or repairs. It's impossible to predict because you never know just what unusual events might eventuate or even how far you will ride. Maintenance costs will always be relative to distance travelled. Drive-train and tyre wear will always be relative to distance ridden, conditions ridden in and effective maintenance.
I have never been interested in riding in adverse conditions, a fair weather rider if you will so I can give you an idea what it has cost me.
Apart from my initial free service after 500km after purchase, I have not taken the bike back to my Local Bike Shop(LBS) for any service. I realise that many people will not want to, or even have the confidence to, maintain their bike themselves however, I do and that is all I will be able to relate to here. Be aware, there are some important things that everyone should do regardless if they are mechanically minded or not.
