Forgive me readers for I have sinned, I have not posted in 14 days

Where do I start?

The last post was for the
SSRC 'P' Ride, hopefully the first of many. That was on the 6th May 2012. Since then I have ridden 8 times.

Just a few words

Since finishing the climbing challenge last month I have rested up lots and have now needed to improve my cadence as my average cadence for rides has dropped significantly. I believe, from all that I read that optimum cadence is around 90 rpm and my average has dropped to around 60. The only way to correct this is to train the legs by "spinning", riding lots in lower gears teaching the legs to perform at a higher RPM. This is exactly what I have been doing this month and discovered I am going to clock up a few km's doing it. I decided to enter the Strava "NUUN, ride twice the California tour" challenge. The total challenge is to ride 2,380km in the month of May. Now I have no delusion that I could do this but there are incremental challenges. These are based at 595km, 1,191km, 1,850km and the final distance of 2,380km. I have completed stage 1 and am well on my way to complete stage 2. Depending on circumstances it is possible that I could complete stage 3 but it is unlikely. Due to the bad weather this time of year it limits how much riding one can do in fair weather and I am a fair weather rider ;-)

I have ridden 890km this month placing me 37% complete in the challenge. Currently the 3rd placed South Australian contesting it. Overall I am placed 753rd of 5,907 challengers world wide. Definately on track to complete stage 2.

Steven, did you suffer withdrawal symptoms, from not posting and not cycling?

No Heather, no withdrawal symtoms LOL. I kept cycling but only small amounts. I hate not documenting as I go because its hard to remember the things that make each ride unique let alone the details that might actually make it interesting to other new riders ;-) At least this time it condensed 8 posts into one :-)
