This was my first ride out with the "Gawler Wheelers" :
We met at Jaspers coffee shop in Gawler at 730am. With two ride options, that being a 55-km or 80-km loop up to Mallala and back. I chose the longer of the two, ( why not ?)
The ride was advertised as 25-30km/h, but we somehow managed to average 32.3-km/h so I think some one was fibbing on the web site :)
As Flat rides go, this was a super ride, with not too much wind and NO flat tires. plus we were only 4 minutes slower than the short loop group.
Seems like a friendly group of lads and lasses.
Jaspers do good coffee too...
See you there next week !
ps: For those who want the stats, here is a link to todays effort.
Nice post Pete. Great to hear there were no punctures because, after last weeks ride summary, I was worried that the north was full of "those fairies".
I was tempted to join this week but I wanted to try some hill work before contemplating the next Grand Slam.
Now all I've got to do is wind my alarm clock back a looong way to get to Gawler on a Sat morning from the other side of the planet!
Comment by Dave, Lewiston on May 14, 2011 at 20:18 Great to hear you enjoyed the ride, Pete.
Funny about the better-than-advertised average. You need to speak to Dale, and Craig, and Warren about that one.
It might have been an attempt to beat us slower folk back to Jaspers. Nice try, but it didn't work this time, guys!
Not to anticipate Frank's ride report too much, but we had a good morning on the flats, with a couple of scheduled stops along the way, and NO PUNCTURES!
A couple of PBs too.
See you next week.

Comment by Pete (repeats ?) Roberts on May 15, 2011 at 0:35 Hi Dave,
I wasn't worried abut the speedy average, I just took it easy in the middle of the pack.
Lets see how I go when things get a bit hilly...
Thanks again for a good morning ride :)
