Well, I could get maudlin about going, dwell on the uncertainties of the future or some of the challenges to come, or I could reflect on the last two years.

I arrived on my own in Adelaide in June 2009, having never set foot in SA, or ridden anything over 40kms.

Over a period of time, my family arrived and we settled in to life in SA: bought a road bike, did some kms, got used to the heat, applied to enter the MCCT.

Hooked. Couldn't wipe the smile off my face all week, had a surreal series of encounters with Lance Armstrong over the week. The twitter ride, CVSA, Adelaide Cyclists all followed, Ride like Crazy, Coast to Coast, the Muddies, the most complete riding experience that I can imagine, the sunrise and sunset rides, Outer Harbour, the awesome people I have met along the way and the lessons in life I have learnt from all of you.

I could name all the folks that have had an impact, but there are simply too many of you. You know who you are and you are all special.

I leave 7kgs lighter, with a few more bikes, a De Rosa obsession, a significant coffee problem and a fair few thousand kms under the belt.

And that pink Lampre outfit. Brisbane doesn't know what's coming.

Get maudlin', we need tears at a time like this. 7 kgs lighter, that new bike will balance that out quite nicely. Coffee problem, what problem?

Now don't let the door smack you on the arse on the way out.

You could save a few bob on extra baggage charges by riding the DeRosa to Brisbane !

Good luck David nice to have met you and see u round one day.

I could ride one of the De Rosas.....that one is currently naked, awaiting some trick kit at some point - in the meantime, I am gloriously disobeying the rules: yellow seat, white tape, bright frame!

Happy trails Dave!
If you need a road riding partner (or an intro to single track MTB riding on Mt Coottha) let me know. A mate would be happy to oblige I'm sure. Cheers

Thanks for taking the time to write such a nice note. I'm glad your experience of Adelaide was better for cycling, and the community you met. How can we forget your glow in the dark bike.

Be sure to join http://www.brisbanecyclists.com and keep on peddling!

All the best. Angus

The good news is the glow in the dark bike remains in Adelaide, under the tender care of Michael Moses......Gus, you do special work here - keep up the magic! Peter, let me find somewhere to live first and RD7 - soccer all the way!
