I have just acquired a brand new Apollo pepper, and my is it a joy to ride. I'm riding her free wheel at the moment, with 46-16gear ratio, so haven't really changed anything as of yet.

I've not really been riding regularly for a long time, but the 8km commute into town for uni each day is certainly getting me used to riding again.

I'll post pics at some point, but suffice to say, I'm loving life.

Same freewheel gear as me! Noice! We should go up Mt Lofty together some time!

On another note, just make sure it is kept somewhere nice and secure while you are at uni. Given the very recent experience of another member with his pride and joy being stolen this week. Make sure the frame is u-locked to something substantial and that the wheels are at least cabled to the frame.

Enjoy!

Wombat: sounds good, give me a while to get back into the swing of things though :P
And yeah, I've got a nice big U-lock and cables for the wheels.

Robert: I've been thinking (already) that for commuting I might go for something with a bit of a higher gearing on the fixed side, so I can get a bit of speed. How far do you tend to ride?

As for speed... I have clocked over 60 pedalling (since I have the choice with the f/w hub) down Glen Osmond Rd from the toll gate to Greenhill. Free wheeling, I am sure I have done faster than that, but I don't have a speedo on that bike... and never will. I'm not sure you CAN go slower than 60 descending Greenhill Rd.
