A varied day with bikes today.
Left home (city) on the BSA for a 9:00am appointment in Pirie St. A station wagon was double parked in the bike lane, adjacent to a building site in Franklin St. With a loud voice, I asked the driver to get out of the bike lane, which he did, but he then abused me a bit further on when we were both waiting in traffic to cross King William St. Funny how some people don't like being found out for doing wrong and then try to make themselves feel better by abusing someone else. A definite defect of character there. Why not admit to oneself that one is wrong, resolve to try to do better, and get on with life? No further incidents.
Early afternoon. Assemble a new bike for our 6yo grandson for him to use in Veale Gardens when he comes here. Left as much wrapping on as possible, so he also gets the pleasure of unwrapping it. I could have rebuilt an old bike, but it would have taken a lot more time, and probably nearly as much money as a new one.
Mid to late afternoon. Ride the Mongoose to Goodwood station, on the Belair train, of at Coromandel, then ride to my son's place to complete a car shuffle involving rhe semi-retirement of our Falcon to our place at Upper Sturt, after earlier in the week having taken delivery of a much smaller car from our daughter-in-law. Good bike yack with my son, and good coffee. Mongoose on the bike carrier on the back of the Falcon, and off to Upper Sturt. Headed home from our Upper Sturt place, up the hill to Upper Sturt Rd. Got off and wheeled the bike the top half of the hill. Why bust myself riding at 4km/hr, when I can much more easily wheel the bike at 4km/hr? Back on the bike om Upper Sturt Rd, and then into the park. Stopped just downhill from here for a long chat with another AC member, who I have known for some years on other accounts. Topics: avoiding Unley Rd, lights, old bikes. Then continue through the park, then Sheoak Rd, Gloucester Ave, Hillrise Rd, Colenel Light Gardens, through to the Unley shops (my wife had rung up and asked me to get something), then home about 7:00.
Overall, a quite enjoyable day, involving 3 bikes.
