10 Days into the "Every Second Counts" Bicycling Australia/Strava Challenge (70% complete)

Sorry, I have struggled to find the time to post on my blog! I think the last time was on day 5 of the challenge and that was my first post since starting the challenge then.

Day 10 and 1,267 km done

So, today, I rose at 4am and headed out the door at 4:30am to head north. I was expecting a nice day so had planned to ride a little further than my normal 130-140km I have been doing for the challenge.

It was actually quite cold and so I rugged up as usual for a winter morning ride. My knees started complaining a few days ago so I have been protective of them by taking any climbs and even headwinds with reduced effort and just taking the penalty of a longer time in the saddle. I have also been playing with my breakfast to better fuel myself for longer rides. I had been having a milk coffee with sugar and two slices of multi-grain toast, one with peanut butter and one with marmalade. Yesterday I tried quick oats with a spoon full of honey and a spoonful of blueberries. That did not seem as good as the toast. Today I tried the toast and some cereal, nutri grain with some muesli on top.

Steve, given that you head out to the northern suburbs so often you might like to know that there are group rides almost every day Mon to Fri from Star cycles, might make your rides a little more interesting with company and alternate routes with the locals.

Thanks Clive, with only 4 or 5 days left before I expect to complete the challenge and because I like to be home in the morning so I can check my orders on the Aus share market I am unlikely to make any of those rides. Once I have reached the challenge target I will revert to my normal, shorter, local rides ;-)
