Hi, I'm Martin "Avid determined cyclist",

I was involved with the "Ride of respect for Dwayne" accepted as ride leader as I have been commuting from Salisbury to Port since gaining a OHS professional position at Port Adelaide (3 yrs) I volunteer as rides marshal for Bicycle SA for many years (trained SAPOL traffic controller). I have commuted in Melb. for 6 years (1 car door accident) since moving to Adelaide in 2000, I've been hit 6 times by cars, put in hospital 3 times as a result, received almost $7000 for damages to the bicycle etc.On Sunday 12/12/2010 at 2:45 pm, rear ended at the exit of Salisbury Hwy and South Rd heading towards the Port for 60 klm loop I do. Again I was run down and put in hospital, I am a careful rider my job is Safety I can't help myself, I think safety most of the time, especially on public roads (more so due to reputation of SA drivers).

I was discharged from hospital yesterday, I find it curious that no statement has been taken from me by the Police at this stage, I rang the Police station today and they told me the Constable will be on shift next Saturday and will contact me in due course. Regards, Martin PS I travelled along the exit lane to the bike exit crossed safely then hit by an exiting vehicle driving on the chevron line markings.

Martin I want a decent camera to report incidents and in case of collisions. Must be helmet mounted, small bullet shape, and able afterwards to read rego number.  A USA police force uses one that costs US$1700, so waiting for prices to reduce.

How does your Edge 705 compare?

Heather, the Edge 705 is a proper GPS, when I go for a ride it plots every where I've been, ie time speed heart rate, cadence. When I have finished my ride and can analyse my performance etc. In this citcumstance after downloading and overlaying on Google earth it shows quite clearly the path taken when the car crossed the chevron white lines. If you go on Ebay you may find what you're looking for at a cheaper price

I've looked at your bikely.com link Martin. Methinks the motorist is gonna have a fair bit of egg on his face.

Even now I have not heard from SAPOL, I've nominated for prosecution as 2 vehicles passed without    incident on my left & the track points clearly shows' me travelling past the exit and on the underpass, before the collision. Thanks for the comment..

So what happened in the actual incident? Are cyclists actually banned from cycling on that road, or did you jump into the path of a moving vehicle?

If you were just riding along and the motorist rear ended you then the motorist is at fault and should be held accountable.

Well David I've heard nothing from SAPOL except a note from the expiation people saying the notice will stand, so I've opted for "take me to court"  I'm waiting for a summons.

I've had a visit from the injury compensation insurance company or should I say a private investigator.

I've sent a letter of demand to the name & address given to me by SAPOL only for it be sent be by OZ post saying insufient address.

Saddly its all so vague at this stage.
