I arrived at Cafe Rimini about 7:20am, a little early for the 7:45am ride start time, to find Wattsy had already arrived with Michelle & Paul Fischer. The morning was overcast with a brisk breeze blowing. With a forecast for showers it did not look like it was going to be a nice day for a ride. By 7:45am everyone had arrived for the ride including Rob who had been running a little late. Most people had rain jackets on expecting to see some rain.…

After switching from a heavy training regime in running to riding a bike to keep fit I find myself constantly double checking my reasons for doing anything cycling. I have to keep reminding myself that I am riding a bike to keep fit and not training to race or participate in events.
Its a fine line, for anyone who has a competitive streak, to follow. If for some reason your normal competitive outlet is blocked it make it even more difficult to control the urge to do more, and more,…

Today was all about performing a solid ride. Wishing to improve my climbing as I find I am weak in this. This is why I continue to ride to Darlington and back via the veloway with its undulating route and 2 category 4 climbs.

Today I reached a new milestone, I have now ridden over 1,000 km's/621 mi (actual 1,019 km's/633 mi) after owning a bike for all of 76 days. In fact I have reached a second milestone at the same time, 4,002 KM's/2,487 mi of exercise for 2011, thats 1,019 km/633 mi ridding, 1,901 km/1,181 mi running and 1,082 km/672 mi walking. Well what a great day for this ride! 16C, overcast, no wind and no rain. I had decided to make this a big day of riding for me as Lynn was at a conference all day leaving me to my own devices. The core of today's riding was to include the Inaugural Southern Suburbs Road Cyclists L group ride. Check out the Wattsy's…

Heading down the Sea to Vines trail we turned onto the bike track and headed South towards Sheriffs Rd. Regrouping on the South side of Sherriffs Rd Trent, looking a little green, apologised and left to head home as it appears he had a mild case of food poisoning from the night before. We decided to head to the end of the Southern Expressway and regroup there so away we all went. As always with me, I feel like I am part of a cartoon, you know, the one... If you would like to read about the…

In many respects today’s ride to Darlington and back, via the veloway, was so good but I failed my morning goal!
