Those interested in Adelaide’s bicycling history may like to check out a flikr site I have set up illustrating Adelaide’s ‘cargo bike’ culture of the late 1970s and 1980s. See: Adelaide Long Bike flikr There’s also a web page at the Port Adelaide Bicycle User Group’s site at PortBUG. These photos offer a unique glimpse…Continue

The Bike Workshop isn’t just about giving bikes to individuals or families, it can also tackle projects, with more reach.. .
Wednesday this week, we took one “class set” of 35 BMX-size bikes to Augusta Park primary school in Port Augusta. This followed a request from teacher Ben Kitchin, whom I’ve known since 2008.
Schools don't just use bikes for cycling...
Ben, at his old school, Wilsden, organised bike-fixing lessons (with help of the…Continue
How good was Sunday's weather for cycling. Mild, still and if you were a part of Gear Up Girl, or just out for a ride, it's days like Sunday that remind us Adelaide is s great place to ride and it's no wonder there are now 2000 members on the website.…Continue

This group ride was organised by Andrew Watts (Wattsy) on the Adelaide Cyclists web site as the Southern Suburbs Road Cyclists "L" Ride number 3. Intended to attract new riders with a nice slow pace and not to difficult or long a distance it helps build a community of riders down the South of Adelaide. Today we started with 12 riders, most were experienced with a few new to group riding. Husband and…Continue

Wow what a winters day in Adelaide. Spectacular cycling weather and so many made the most of it. Cyclists everywhere in the hills, on Linear Park, at the Tweed Ride in the city and the cyclo-cross event in Victoria Park - I could not imagine how busy the beach roads must have been. Was it the Cadel effect (and how good was he!) or the weather? A member has already posted…Continue

Just finished this video promoting MTB in the Adelaide Hills - GO RIDE!
It's getting pretty chilly these mornings and when your breath turns to steam members turn to asking what to wear for those winter hills rides. A compilation of conversations about winter woes are here. Advice on how to get out of bed on those chilly mornings is a lot harder but this was a nice piece from Cycling Maven on…Continue
I think last weekend was, not that I am a long range meteorologist, probably the last hot one of the season. Arm and leg warmers and gilets are being pulled out and some of you might be fair weather cyclists and your season is coming to the end whereas others, like me, are getting ready to, and embrace, the cold -- Belgium up 2011! Are you going to keep commuting by bike this winter?
