Lazy Day at the Norm
It's been a while since I last posted a blog in part because I've been lazy and in part because I've been dealing with some personal issues over the last 6 months. Suffice to say the last six months have been particularly challenging. Cycling has provided a healthy escape and I'm very thankful to the various groups I've ridden with for, well, being there!…

Redline Classic - 444km's in 3 Days - Please Sponsor Me :-)
Hi All
I have decided to take on a challenge, the Redline Classic in October 2012, a three day, cross state bike ride of 444km’s taking in the Adelaide Hills, Barossa and Mid-north areas of South Australia.
Why am I doing this? Primarily to raise money for charity - namely the Leukemia Foundation.
The Leukemia Foundation is very important to me - for those that do not know the story of Stephen Morgan - please let me tell you what happened. Stephen was married to…

My First 12 months, 12,000 km's of riding after 37 years
Maybe this will best be presented as a timeline! It's been a jam packed 12 months and there is so much to say about the 12,000 km's of riding I have done in it! I will try to keep it brief and provide links to pages that more fully describe the event where I have them. If you have been reading my blog you may already know that I started riding on the 11th August 2011 after some maybe 38 years of not riding. I had been training to run my first marathon when my knee collapsed and Lynn,…

A few milestones
I seem to have spent less time on here of late, although that certainly hasn't corresponded with less time on the bike! I just thought I'd share a few milestones that I've reached in the last month or so, as I start getting excited for the Dirty Dozen.
1: July 23, 2500 km Since I got Strava. I got Strava in mid Feb, so I've done maybe 3000km this year. This is not including commuting, because I'm too lazy to record the 5k's each way every day. Currently I'm at 2,838km
2:…

Finishing the Bicycling Australia's "Every Second Counts" Challenge
On Thursday, the end was in sight. I had planned to ride 130km Friday, big ride Saturday, incorporating a Gawler Wheelers group ride leaving me less than 100km to do on Sunday incorporating the S.S.R.C. "L" ride to finish up.

10 Days into the "Every Second Counts" Bicycling Australia/Strava Challenge (70% complete)
Sorry, I have struggled to find the time to post on my blog! I think the last time was on day 5 of the challenge and that was my first post since starting the challenge then.
So, today, I rose at 4am and headed out the door at 4:30am to head north. I was expecting a nice day so had planned to ride a little further than my normal 130-140km I have been doing for the challenge.
It was actually quite cold and so I rugged up as usual for a winter…
