Critical Mass Adelaide occurs on the last Friday of every month!

I've been some CM riding in Bangkok, at most 1000 people riding around the stress in the evening traffic, it was a great experience!!
I believe the bicycle was man best invention and after living in Europe and Asia think that the bicycle is underutilized here in ADELAIDE.
I've not…

The old .ning.com address will also forward.
This way it is even easier to remember and tell your friends!
Thanks for the patience while we got it going.

I've been asked how the Adelaide Cyclists website, or social network if you prefer, came about.
I had seen Sydney and Melbourne cyclist sites built on this same platform with around 700+ members and forums seeing a lot of discussions being had. Having moved from Sydney to Adelaide not quite two years ago and have been impressed with Adelaide as a cycling city (and then events like the TDU take it off the scale!)
I was not a road bike rider (I have just started riding a…

Just back from a meeting with AC member Paul we had a great chat about how to move Adelaide Cyclists forward or to a new level… or whatever metaphor you want to use.
Anyway we have some ideas for promoting the site to attract more members and with more members we can have more…

Hi I live in the US but my partner and I are planning a long bike tour starting in Australia so I thought I'd add myself to your group. We're not sure when we are going to get started but are fairly certain we'd like to start in Australia.

Getting About on Two Wheels Blog post.
The thing I love and continues to amaze me, is how far you can get on a bike in a short period of time.
Getting out this weekend in Adelaide in glorious mild sunny autumnal weather for a ride it wasn't long before I had ridden from home to Magil then up Norton summit and back down to the river. It really is the best time of the year for…

I had chanced upon this site once before but must have been busy that night. Now I have checked it out more thoroughly I can see this could be a great way for Adelaide cyclists to get together for the benefit of us all.

I have just published a new page on my web site highlighting the problems with disappearing bicycle lanes in Adelaide. To check it out, go to http://www.adam.com.au/bowler/bike/car_lane_end.html

Over the last couple of years I've become increasingly interested in long distance rides. There are quite a few epic mountain bike and touring rides that I'd like to do and there are a few other cyclists doing epic rides that I'm following. Here are some of my favourites:
North Sea Cycling Route. 6000km through eight different European countries.
Great Divide… Continue

Last night, instead of creating two new groups on this site, I continued my search for my ideal commuter bike. I should point out that this search is somewhat complicated by my height. I'm 190cm tall and a lot of off-the-shelf bikes aren't big enough. My current roadie is a 60cm frame and the bars are 9cm below the saddle. It is just too uncomfortable to be used every day.
Last night I read something that made sense to me and that I had been ignoring because of my penchant for to…

For some reason I'm really digging utility bikes at the moment. As much as I would like one I have no real use for it and I can only imagine trying to climb Norton Summit on one. Still, I love the fact that people are buying bikes like these for all sorts of work that they would normally do in a car.

I've only been in Adelaide for not quite two years. It didn't take me long to appreciate two things: It is a great place to ride a bike and it doesn't rain at Easter, unlike Sydney.
Rain! You don't know rain until you have been in Sydney at Easter. I think it is the fact you can't get out of the house. You can't even escape to work. It just rains and rains. My wife is always tells me of one Easter her housemate decided to get out every piece of clothing she owned and sort it in the…

Every time I log onto this site I see ads for bicycle lights. How does Google know I need lights?

I have only been using cleats (clipless etc) shoes for a couple of weeks. I read that once you get into cleats you never go back. No one said that you also fall over a bit when getting used to them!
I fell over again this morning. A gave way at a roundabout in Walkerville and just…

So it's that time again when I need to remember to change my clock before going to bed to mark the end of DSL. What it does mean is the light for the 8am ride will be better but also it is getting colder.
I bought my first pair of arm warmers this week. I think they are mostly for the weekend rides as I think my commuting kit is sorted. Ice Breaker merino wool undershirt, windproof light jacket and windproof gloves purchased last yr, and of course pants clips. I wonderful simple…
