Well I have been influenced by Lee Bakes to have a go at this road bike group riding. So out I went with the advice and help from Lee and purchased this bike (private sale)..It's suppose to be a pretty good bike (so I am told) so on advice after Lee's eyes practically popping out of his head …

Have had a few issues - being on call or spending time with family most of it, but the latest is that I gave myself partial thickness burns to the fingers which has made gear changing too painful. Think I'll be better next week and if that's the case I'll be on the undulating ride. Am planning to ride to Nuri and back tomorrow.
Hope you've had a great Easter and see you soon

Hi Terry, and thanks for the friend invite. I am not really a face book man, although I have recently signed up, about 6 months ago. Never really look at it though. Nevertheless I have two friends on facebook. The first was a young (21yr old) french tourist and her American boy friend(same age). I 'picked them up' with their tyred old Toyota Hiace Van on the side of the road at Port Germain. Invited them back to my home in Elizabeth to meet the wife and have rest from living in a van for a couple of days. They had been touring Oz for two years! Offered to service their car. That was an experience in itself! Can't workout how it went at all! My son came up from Unley for the night and we had a great dinner and chat. Son asked them the question "Have you ever seen the movie 'Wolfe Creek?"!. Can't remember their answer LOL.
Anyway she left me her email address and phone number (in Marseilles, France) and 6 months later after I signed up on Facebook to try to find my best mate at school, she invited me to 'be her friend'. Also found my school mate eventually on Facebook, and was good to catch up with him, face-to-face, after last seeing him in year 12 in 1969! 42 years ago.
So all that to just try and say I am not sure what this on-line 'be a friend' business is all about. But guess I will work it out in time.
I see a pic of your new bike up above. I saw one with flat plastic spokes like that out at Freeling on my first ride I think. Maybe it was yours. So that's how I can 'catch a friend' next Saturday I think - an Avanti with black flat plastic spokes! And hopefully a Terry is standing next to it.
Now to have a read of the Sunday ride eport from the Brighton to Outer Harbour group. I think that's the one you and Christene did. Hope all went well. Cheers, John.
