Showgrounds bike path open?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Brian Jenkins (BJ) on Thursday. 12 Replies

Can anyone tell me if the path along the West of the showgrounds is open for cycling this week? In recent years they've closed it during the show - "Cyclists must walk" - because of the foot traffic…Continue

Profile Information

What bikes do you ride?
Shiny new Merida Scultura Pro 907E courtesy of Merida Bikes Australia. It's the second of three bikes in three years provided by Merida Bikes Australia for me to ''test ride''.

Also in the shed:
Stan aka 'the Mongrel', ol yellow fixie for commuting and for wandering down to the pub or shops. A hard-rubbish 70's Standish steel frame brought back to life with $100 bucks worth of ebay parts- brings me a lot of pleasure on commutes and social city rides.

Kal, the dirty red Kalahari MTB for going bush on the occasional dirty weekend. I'm no single-track expert, but it's a breath of fresh air getting off the black-top from time to time.
When do you ride?
Weekends, Commute, Mountain Biking
..perhaps some more information about yourself for your profile page
When I'm not riding my bike, I'm a commercial photographer.
Website, blog, interest group address.

How Did I Get Here? Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Always one more challenge.

A have a new challenge looming on my horizon. Next month I’ll spend five days hanging with some friends in Bright and riding the majestic Victorian Alps. It was my contemplating this coming trip that led me to wonder “how did I get here?”

I know lots of you regularly ride the “3Peaks” or the “Alpine Classic” and that fills me with awe. I’ve never been tempted to ride one, but I'm not sure if…

Chapter 4.

It’s not about the bike. (OK, maybe it is a bit)

Every good hobby needs good magazines and cycling is well catered. There are plenty of niche publications to suit roadies, mountain bikers, BMXers, hipsters and followers of the pro teams. A lot of these are almost half full of bike reviews. This amazed me when I first started flicking through magazines. Just how many different current bike brands are there?  (that’s not really…

My name is Snappy and I’m an addict

..and you all respond in unison "Hi Snappy".

So what’s with on-line clubs? Newbies to any online forum are so keen to get involved. They want to contribute to every topic (whether they know anything about it or not) and the forum always open in their browser.  Every email notification is switched to 'on' so they don’t miss a thing, and everyone who replies to their topic is a new best…

 Chapter 2.

In which a Rookie meets Checker Hill

In those first months, maybe mid 2010, I snooped around on line for information about cycling. I’d always had good experiences hooking up with photographers online to share ideas and knowledge so maybe bike riders did that sort of thing too? There were a few sites I tried. It was all a bit confusing. There was even a locally based one called “Adelaide Cyclists”. It didn’t look very active, but I…
