- What bikes do you ride?
- Shiny new Merida Scultura Pro 907E courtesy of Merida Bikes Australia. It's the second of three bikes in three years provided by Merida Bikes Australia for me to ''test ride''.
Also in the shed:
Stan aka 'the Mongrel', ol yellow fixie for commuting and for wandering down to the pub or shops. A hard-rubbish 70's Standish steel frame brought back to life with $100 bucks worth of ebay parts- brings me a lot of pleasure on commutes and social city rides.
Kal, the dirty red Kalahari MTB for going bush on the occasional dirty weekend. I'm no single-track expert, but it's a breath of fresh air getting off the black-top from time to time.

The back story
As some of you know, when I’m not on a bike, I’m behind a camera. That’s where the ‘snappy’ in snappy don comes in. It’s interesting to see people’s reactions when the party question comes up, and I tell them I’m a photographer. Their follow up, if it happens to be a male under 35 years of age, is usually to ask if I photograph lots of lingerie models.
Now, surprising as it may be, 98% of commercial photography actually doesn’t involve lingerie…

If morning rides have seen you return home

I love to ride a bike. And I enjoy writing about riding a bike. But putting A plus B together does not make me C - “a bike reviewer”.
Until now my experience of riding road bikes has been n=1. Like most of us, I didn’t get the opportunity to test ride a stable of different models before I made my choice.
