Right now on ABC TV show The New Inventors.
A two-wheeler recumbent; cyclist as high as on average bicycle for better vision of traffic; recumbent position for aerodynamics; but front wheel drive with shorter chain so more efficient than recumbent; a telescopic 'head stem'.
Faster than other bikes. Holds the world record for women's 100-mile speed.
Called the Cruzbike. Inventor John Tolhurst. Price about $4,500. Won tonight's episode on The New Inventors.

Can you quickly use the online form to ask for things that will improve cycling conditions and safety? Find the form at www.dtei.sa.gov.au/roadsafety and select 'Towards Zero Together'.
Otherwise you can email your submission to DTEI.RoadSafety@sa.gov.au
The 4MB report can be downloaded.
Otherwise, you read the extracts I chose in this file.…

How to buy or make a ruling device to show depth of potholes or utility cover-lids, while photographing? Can manage if one person holding a rule, and the other person focusing a camera to take a close-up showing the measurement. But cannot do on my own with current tools.
I carry a tape measure and flat edge (clipboard) to measure some cycling hazards I see while cycling. But there are times when one wants to photograph to persuade the authority to fix, or proof if the hazard is a…

Tom Adams said… Thanks Heather. Do you have an approximate price for the tandem? I'm assuming we're talking about the orange one in the photo by lake Torrens.

Richard Manton said… Yes, getting the hang of the site a bit more now. Can you please include me in the BUG newletter e-list.
Thanks Heather - not a commuter sorry, but ride lots around the city. Will look into your link.
Richard Manton said… Thanks for the welcome Heather, and, yes I commute from North-east into the city twice a week. How do I join "Adelaide BUG", I'll probably also join Gully Grinders as they are in my local area.
Pascalo said… Hi Heather, thanks for welcoming me.
Yes, I do live in the city. I already left feedback via the online form on "yoursay", where I also have commented on the Frome Street bike lane improvements plan before.
Hi Heather and thankyou for your welcome, I'm mainly a commuter rider to and from city (along those disappearing bike lanes) 3 days a week. I tried to comment the link
http://www.adelaidecyclists.com/group/adelaidebug/forum/topics/acc-seeks-input-on-its-integrated-movement-strategy
But it involved a lot of signing up and I got bored very quickly. Im unsure why I have to sign up and wait for activiation (which didn't work!!) anyhow...
I reading a great book The Enlightened cyclist by by Bike snob NYC (or eben weiss) you should read it. Coffee with Prospect BUG sounds great but I work M-Fri. Maybe another time.
I love to know how to get a bike lane on Frome St as I come off Frome Road near the zoo and hospital and my lane disappears into nothing, then I do a gutter ride for about 100 meters before it opens up again. I real black spot.
lisa degregorio said… I'm just new to cycling really but I was put off by my experience in ride for pain riding in the city. Other events obstructing the free movement of cyclists. I had a parked car pull out infront of me doing 20km/hr + on north terrace and I had to pull a sharp stop and i ended up cms from his bumper. If only bikes had horns. This was the first time riding on the roads in the city. Not enjoyable
