I could actually do Elizabeth in about an hour from St Morris, using the train... whether I would want to is another question!

Long way away yet Superstars, but am thinking another ride of two leisurely lazy loops. Meet City, and ride the Linear Park again. Loop 1, City to Sea and back. Loop 2, City to Hills (if you have the time), and back. Heading up to the hills is nice…

I think if I start about a km up Norton Summit Rd, that will make it 8km to the Mall's Balls. See you there! (I think the downhill run will give me the advantage ;-)

You know you are an Adelaide cyclist when you go to an event and recognise heaps of the bikes in the bike parking.... ("heaps good!")

Good luck sorting it out, don't worry about the T-shirt! The papers with the T-shirt was just to explain that we were taking responsibiltity for our own safety, ie waiving BV of legal responsibility for us being outside counting. And the step-by-ste…

The access code was given in the first email we were sent, at least it was for me. It doesn't come through the mail. Not necessary to mail the count form, either, I don't believe, only if you aren't able to fill in the excel spreadsheet from the pro…

I got 129 cyclists, almost all going from Beulah Rd into Rundle, or from Fullarton (Nth) into Rundle. However, my count site didn't require me to count the turn into Rundle, for some reason - it was looking at the Little Grenfell lane. (Which 14 cyc…

Mums on Bikes

During the recent Australian Cycling Conference, one of the themes that came up in several presentations was that once the more vulnerable members of the community felt comfortable with cycling in shared space environments, that was a good indication that bicycle use had reached a high level of normalisation and safety.

The “more vulnerable” category included elderly people, children, and mothers carrying children.

As a mum on a bike here in Adelaide, I thought it might be int… Continue

Cycle Touring Kangaroo Island

Island Tour

Myself and Jeremy have a bit of a passion for getting on our bikes and going places, and one of the places on our list for quite a while has been Kangaroo Island. Just by virtue of being an island it is a romantic destination, and the challenge of the rough roads only added to its appeal. Pristine environment, isolated bays, wildlife and great local food and wine – how could we resist! So we set aside 3 days over the Australia Day weekend, and with a minimum of planning, lef… Continue

2010 Australian Cycling Conference Review

This article was originally pulished in BISA's Jan/Feb 2010 issue of Pedal Update. I attended both days of the conference as one of the BISA delegates.

Hi,

I knew someone in Adelaide would see it and catch up with me! ... and as I wrote to Jeremy Miller.. "welcome, we've been expecting you"

My son is Oscar and he's just started in the pre-kindy room. The Xtracycle is certainly eye catching. I kept meaning to catch you and after Pat started his group I thought I'd grap a picture.. being the morning I didn't have a lot of time to wait for you to come back.

Now Oscar is a little bigger I'm going to ride him to St Morris in a seat.. I'll have to try him out on the Xtracycle.

Thanks for joining and spreading the word around as well. I just got an email from the Sydney Cyclist site about their 2nd birthday. They have 1000+ members so I hope this group will get to that by Feb 2011.

All the best.
Angus
