Crafers Bikeway rockslide cleanup

Congrats to DPTI. Looks like they are cleaning up the rockslide into the Crafers Bikeway, just down from the Bollards. Was  getting a bit dicey coming down past that restriction on occasions.So if you see 25kmh signs coming down from the bollards they are actually doing something - there's an excavator working this morning......unlike the 25 signs that were up for a month last year, 6 weeks after the slide actually occurred.Electric sign said works to commence on the 20th, thought i a bit odd…See More

"Hmmm. That could work. The pin is hollow (as in a tube) for the full length with ~9.5mm ID (OD 15mm). Likely make it challenging to clamp whilst tapping a thread, then not going to leave much wall thickness after cutting a thread inside? Not to…"

"What I've done before is to drill out the now stripped hex head in the aluminum pivot pin to the next suitable tapping size, then tap a thread and cut a countersink to fit a countersunk screw in the end of the pin, with high strength thread…"

"Is the pin badly worn from the bearings fretting on it? If not you may be able to modify it for further service. I would drill through the length of the pin then cut it in half. Install the two sections into the pivot then pull them together hard…"
