"Complain? Umm, not sure what to complain about.
I guess I can't ride my road bike across there at the moment (well, wouldn't) but it does suit the MtBike and a few pot holes are kind of fun >.<
The grit is not very bike friendly but…"
"Okay, I'll call tomorrow.
My partner Grant filmed the ride from the cargo bike a couple of weeks ago when the path was first shut and has put the film on the web here. You don't see much of the path but you do get a sense of the…"
"I don't think it is unreasonable to complain now. A few weeks ago it was very dry but it's been wet for a while and may continue to be so for for quite a while. The ACC could perhaps fill some of the holes at the Eastern end…"
"Different route? Of course, just is that straight across Victoria Park is much more convinent heading home from my mate's place on Carrington St. Nice quiet back streets as well heading east on the southern side of Kensington Rd."
"In June ACC told me that they would not put in an expensive temporary bitumen path, and that sounds reasonable to me. With that surface plus rain, not surprising that there is grit. ACC did attempt in June to improve the temporary path. It may be…"
"Cycled over it on the weekend of the 2/3 July, quite a damp day. My MtBike got totally covered in a fine grit, the path itself was okay but I could hear the grit grinding away - I was aiming for the puddles to try to wash it off!"
"Sandy, keep me informed about the muddy part covered in water. It was on Friday that the ACC person said he would determine if any soft parts needed more stone and compacting. Perhaps not enough time to do that."
"Good for you. My daughter is a happy kid who just loves being on a bike too. However, she has only been riding without training wheels for a few months so is still building her confidence. She also represents the 2% of Australian…"
"Heather, thanks so much for speaking to the ACC person. I used the path today and the fence has been moved so that the north/south path is now open again (near end of Halifax St) which is great as that path is heavily used. The east/west…"
"Sandy, let me know if I got it right and if any improvement. As I said, I did not go near the closed area.
I spoke to an ACC person today and think that he now has a better idea of cycling for transport. I pointed out that drivers get advance…"
AC is planning a cargo bike race in June. Look under Events if you are interested. I have asked the ACC to consider sponsoring a cargo bike rally / race. I spoke to the Lord Mayor Stephen Yarwood and posted on Adelaide BUG. A way to get people thinking that one can shop by bike, rather than drive into the city.
