"Do the climbs with him first or find something similar on strava. Make sure he is carbed up and well hydrated before, during and after the ride so he actually wants to do it again. "

Question about Boileau Adelaide and an 8 year old

Greetings allI am trying to work out whether to do the Boileau 50 km Mt Lofty challenge with my 8 year old. He's very fit, has a good road bike, has done Amy's 65k ride (see page 8 of this months bike SA magazine) and has ridden 100ks before. Nevertheless I am very protective of his little legs/back. Steep hills and long rides can do nasty things to little people.I can't really picture whether the ride up to Mt Lofty on the Freeway is steeper than the ride up the Southern Expressway.…See More

Hi Roger.  Unfortunately  I  don't get down South very often, but have been thinking about a group ride down that way as a break from routine.  About the leg-warmers - when laid flat the ankle measures 8cm across, the thigh 18cm, and the length is 65cm. Elasticated top and zipped bottom.  I found them on a sale at one of the bike shops (can't remember which) a couple of years ago and intended to convert them to arm warmers but realised that was too much like hard work, so they've been sitting in a drawer since waiting to be resurrected.  Check the measurements, see what you think before we get around to posting.

CARL
