I expect to easily get 5000km out of a dura ace grade chain.
imho it's not the choice of oil but how regularly you wipe over the chain, jockey wheels and cleanout the cassette.
I use that really thin castrol handy oil from the supermarket.

these days MTB's are 135mm & Roadies are 130mm
to spread the dropouts on a steel frame, you'll need a a suitably forked tree (tio kold the frame), a length of 4x2 (to use as a lever) and maybe some heat - shame about your new paint
my workmates think retro cassettes only play music ;-)

I have spent hundreds of dollars on saddles because I rate a comfortable ride first priority to enjoying riding. What good is a $10K bike that causes pain?
