Pip replied to Ken the Dane's discussion Something for the lycra commuter to think about
"I will never understand the the lycra or not lycra debate. I don't get the hostility so many people have about someone else's clothing choices - wear what you want, I say! If you're not killing people or molesting kids I couldn't…"

Pip replied to Peter Hill's discussion The trouble with roof mounted bicycle racks
"I bought a bike rack that holds three bikes from roof rack city. It was only $90 and just straps onto the boot. I have a hatchback and it works really well. Works with other types of cars too, apparently, but not if you have a spoiler. Noticed after…"

"Pip, as others have said, ease into the riding, it takes time and listen to your body! If it hurts then stop. It's been 22months since I was hit, and I am now 95% pain free, it takes time."

"Don't be disheartened Pip. Starting again from nothing will be a real shock to your body, and if 14km hurts, tone it down to a distance you can handle and build slowly. It's been a year and a half since my accident and I'm only just…"

David Southern replied to Pip's discussion Obviously too soon :(
""Sit up and beg." A more upright posture on a bike may help avoid neck pain.  Higher handlebars closer to the body = more upright and less neck flexing.  A mirror may help avoid some of the twisting to see what's coming to…"

I was house sitting in lower Mitcham so decided to ride my flat bar bike to work as it was only about 7km...Most of the ride in was great! I was cruising along nicely, the people in the cars were super polite and it was a beautiful day.About 3/4 the way in my neck started to hurt a lot. I made it into work ok and was super happy and excited about my ride to work. I had to take painkillers almost immediately but figured that was a small price to pay and was happy all day.The ride home was agony…See More

Hi Pip. I hope you are getting some answers without confusing yourself too much. I do recommend you try and see Noel at The Bike Station on Brighton Rd. He is very good. Make sure you mention Adelaide Cyclists sent you. Or Claude at Mega Bike.

All the best.

Angus

PS .. your choices are fine, you'll love anything you get!
