Whats with the black bike only trend?

Started this discussion. Last reply by Shav Bird Apr 17, 2012. 25 Replies

Been looking at potential new bikes for over a year now. Looking for a carbon road bike with Ultegra gear. Only stipulation for me is that I don't want a black bike. Yet just about everything on the…Continue

"I raised a support request, and received this reply: http://app.strava.com/segments/774440 is back now. (The segment start about 150m from the lights. That's more than I'd like, but at least it starts after the lights and…"

"They may not necessarily have flagged them 'cause they were hazardous. I have flagged a couple of segments as they had stupid GPS data in them or had me riding at ridiculous speeds. I know there is a constant battle to keep a segment on the…"

"These people claim that they are attempting to protect the Community from danger. Too many people trying to control the actions of others. I reckon that they should just leave well enough alone.    "

Hazardous segments

Anyone noticing that more and more segments are being listed as hazardous by anonymous riders?2 of my segments have recently been blacklisted yet they are fairly gentle downhill runs with KOM's well below the speed limit and with no intersections or places where a rider may break the law.As there is no right of rebuttal or even a way to remove the segment after it has been blacklisted it seems to me that if a wowser wanted to they could black ban every strava segment quite easily.See More

Peter Macdonald replied to Michael Wetherley's discussion Low Max Heart Rate good or bad????
"Its all in the genetics.  I'm 55 years old and can my heart up to 195bpm. On steep hills or pushing hard I can usually do 186bpm. I did 188bpm over the Hilton bridges today. It drops quickly when not pushing and my normal riding heart rate…"

"Adding to David's point. Drivers hate cyclists because we can do things they can't. Get to the front at traffic lights, ride up on the footpath to avoid the road, Take off before railway boom gates are fully up - because we can see what…"

TDU challenge ride

Posted on January 17, 2011 at 21:56 4 Comments

Anyone else notice the odd timing of the Balhannah start at 10:30am - by the time they start all the other riders will be through. So if you start from Balhannah you will probably finish last!

Community Ride or Genocide?

Posted on December 6, 2010 at 11:27 19 Comments

As a cyclist of many years I have the dubious honour of having ridden in every TDU Community Ride (with all its previous names such as breakaway ride etc) One of the original 600 who rode in the first one in the Barossa. I have a rack of mostly ill-fitting jerseys to prove it. Over the early years when BikeSA organised the ride it was pretty slick, especially after the tour de inferno to Yankalilla where BikeSA got a kick up the chamois and really got their act together. Last year with 8000…
