Wooden mudguards/fenders

Started Jan 21, 2013 0 Replies

Does anyone know of any Australian manufacturer of wooden mudguards? Had a look around and they seem to all be from the USA. I'd like to find some locally if possible.Continue

Great bikes for kids

I'm biting the bullet and selling my sons' bikes. They've both moved on from these two great little bikes. My son got a Puky balance bike when he was 3. It was expensive new, but it's been through…Continue

I just picked up this little folding bike. It's an Eska, which I believe is Czech. Does anyone know anything about them? It rides okay, but needs a little love. I'm unsure whether to give it a full…Continue

"Thanks Simon. A box on the back would be ideal, but finding a rack for a 24'' is a bit tricky. Might have to cut something down to fit. They are westwood rims, made by Dunlop. We stripped the bike and resprayed everything. If I was going…"

"Ha! Excellent! Like that you've kept pretty much original (at least that's how it looks) and still have something clean and quite stealth/modern really. All it needs now is a box on the back IMO. Are they Westwood rims? Did you respray…"

Great bikes for kids

I'm biting the bullet and selling my sons' bikes. They've both moved on from these two great little bikes. My son got a Puky balance bike when he was 3. It was expensive new, but it's been through two kids and still looks almost untouched. Solid, easy to ride, good for age 3-5, but even 2 year-olds can get around on it. PUKYWhen he turned 5 he graduated to…See More

Can you imagine car parking being designed as 'arty'; disguised as something unrecognisable to drivers; not suiting the purpose; and hard to use? Cyclists should not be expected to accept sub-standard bicycle parking that does not meet Australian Standards or Austroads. This can happen when a local council or other authority overlooks standards when commissioning an artist to design bicycle parking.

Adelaide City Council has followed standards with 'arty' bicycle parking of a 'supported post' at the Hilton Hotel and 'pretzels' at the State Library. However, the latter cost more than 'tried and tested' bicycle parking. I would prefer more average bicycle parking that follows standards, than a few designs that are artistic but sub-standard.
