Prior Warning - Motorcycle run up Gorge Rd Sat 26 March

Just letting all fellow AC members know that SA Motorcycles has a "Gorge Run" planned for the afternoon of Sat 26 March 2011. Would probably be wise to avoid Gorge Rd from 12pm as they are having…Continue

Kona Dirty Weekend, 4-5 May 2013 at Cudlee Creek Forest

May 4, 2013 to May 5, 2013
Kona Rider Andrew Bell writes in his review of the 2012 Kona Dirty Weekend that "the trails make this event a must do for every mountain biker in Oz. I would describe them a mix of Majura Pines on steroids and some of Mt Stromlo's best bits put into a fun flowing 12km of smiles." But while most mountain bike events are all about your sprint skills and being the first across the line, Bike SA'S Kona Dirty Weekend mountain bike challenge is designed to have you, your support crew and spectators…See More

Naracoorte Easter Cycle, 29 March - 1 April 2013 at Naracoorte

March 29, 2013 to April 1, 2013
The ideal long weekend of relaxed fun for family and friends. From long day-trips chasing the horizon for committed roadies, to little loops for tackers on trainer-wheels - as well as our famous Night Ride - our Easter Cycle has plenty in the programme to keep the entire mob occupied all long-weekend. Out of the saddle, there's bush walking, amazing caves to expore, historic museums and galleries, regional treats and fine wine, plus plenty of country pubs to choose from. Back at base you can…See More

My Mini-slamming Girls!!!!

Posted on August 29, 2011 at 22:39 11 Comments

A couple of weeks ago I showed my 2 girls Sam (12) and Kate (10) the route of loop 2 of Grand Slam 4 and asked if they would be interested in attempting it with a few options. As they actually live in Strathalbyn with their Mum, there was an option to abandon when we passed their Mum's house. This option appealed to Kate but Sam was wanting to attempt the complete loop. It was settled, the girls were registered for loop 2.

Not having to be at the start at the same time as the Loop 1…

Kids and cycling

WOW, how things have changed.....

I was meant to be kid free for Grand Slam 3 but I ended up doing a weekend swap and now have my 2 girls Sam (12) and Catherine (10).

When I started riding again about 4 years ago I also encouraged the girls to ride as well. A couple of 2nd hand bikes for them and we were off, just small distances to begin with. Along the Little Para River trail and Linear Park etc.

Last year Sam came along with…

Where to from here??????

Posted on December 10, 2010 at 12:07 16 Comments

I am really starting to consider throwing in the "road cycling" thing.

12 months ago I bought myself a Giant Defy 2 roadie as a means to start myself off on the "road cycling" adventure, I had for the previous 2 - 3 years been ridng around on my mountain bike without hassle. Obviously budget constraints etc kept my options limited to what i purchased but I was happy with the Defy. In January I did both the RLC and MCCT and thoroughly enjoyed both (did the full RLC but only the 110km…

G'day Nigel,
I am still interested in the bike. Can you send me a photo to cronozter@gmail.com. If it looks OK, perhaps we can pick it up on the weekend.
Cheers
Stephen
