It's All About The Ti Build

Posted on February 18, 2013 at 9:18 11 Comments

The journey to build my new bike started 18 months ago after reading “It’s All About The Bike” by Robert Penn. How wonderful it would be to build a bike that you have personally selected each piece individually, researched its attributes and not have some multinational company thinking that these are the components you should have on a said priced bike. No thanks.

For those that don’t know me, I like things that are a little alternate without being too far from left field. The…

Two years on - we've come a long way.

Posted on November 9, 2011 at 8:48 11 Comments

It has been two years since I started cycling as a recreational sport and not just as a means to get milk from the corner shop. I initially took up cycling in an effort to continue on my original goal of weight loss having originally ballooned out to 110kg due to a decrease in physical activity over 5 -6 years.  Two years ago it was hovering around the 100kg mark.  Cycling has managed to get me down to approx 90kg but I still have a bit of work to do.

I started with my old…

Dear Justin

Are you rising to ride tomorrow morning? I see you rode the Screw of Cork on Monday.  It was pity I did not know as I would have joined you on Monday arvo as I was home recovering from my ten days away.

Dear Justin

It was nice to ride with you and the others yesterday.  Thank you for the advice re CFFRS I have added the group to my profile. I rode with Brett until the turn-off to Corkscrew Road.  (I have ridden it a couple of times and do not enjoy the gradient.  It is far too steep for my liking and at 120 plus Ks even more so.  If I had an easier ride up Checkers Hill then I may have done). I may consider riding Friday morning ride but I am not sure whether that will be before or after I return from leave.
