Don't you mean "their roads" - after all the roads are a public asset that belongs to all of society and not just car drivers! ;-)

Just reading the blurb on the Channel 9 website has made me angry - not the kind of rubbish 'journalism', vilification and justification for violence against cyclists that we need during the Clipsal here in Adelaide! Is it just me, or do others fin…

I have been car free for over two years after having been car lite for many, many years (don't really like driving). I sold my last car as it sat in the driveway depreciating and being a liability. I have two school aged children, my eldest commutes…

Goodness yes, follow this up. That area is my stomping ground that is dreadful. Can't believe people watched an assault and did nothing. They should be ashamed.

I saw it rolling, but I wasn't in a hurry to tell him that... I would have felt sorry for the lady in the car behind his.

Defiantly follow it up then! I'd start with Traffic Watch - and assault is assault, he probably feels that this sort of thing is ok!?! Such a shame that people in their cars could not be bother (or too afraid) to step into public and help you out..…

I do have his plates and a good descriptor of the car... can't be too many of that colour magna with a European Union flag on the back bumper.

mate, thats disgusting...i don't know what's worse, being assaulted or having people standby and watch! we're easy targets as cyclists on all fronts - wish i could have helped in some way

WTF? Dude sounds like a nutbag. For sure pursue it, even if nothing happens as far as police are concerned, that's not the point. That's antisocial behaviour and turning the other cheek in this case will only make him feel that it's acceptable. An…

What to do? This morning at the train crossing behind Castle Plaza (Raglan Ave) I stopped in the middle of the road. The train crossing gates were down and the traffic was banked all the way back to the roundabout at Towers Tce. There was a blue/gre…

Interesting, I think that it is about time we saw a few house moves made by bicycle here in Adelaide, I can help with Xtracycle, box bike and cargo trailers - would be good to document what works - generally aim to get about 10 - 20 people with vari…

Do you want a piece of Adelaide cycling history?

Ok folks, up for grabs is one of the original Adelaide Long Bike frames. This is a rare opportunity to own a bit of cycling history

For those of you who don't know, back in the late 80's about 20 - 30 of these bikes were made in a backyard workshop in Adelaide, many of them are still on the road today (I have one that I was riding before I got my Xtracycle). They were so far ahead of their time that we are only now seeing mass market manufactures bringing similar bikes to market.

Bicycle Institute SA January 2010

Happy new cycling year to you all! January again has seen Adelaide host the Australian Cycling Conference. BISA was one of the conference sponsors, and two of our members attended both days. The Tour Down Under was in full swing, and I was again struck by what a great cycling destination South Australia is. As we enter the Adelaide festival season, many people will choose to ride a bicycle to various venues instead of driving a car. Adelaide’s summer nights become alive with bicycles, a measure… Continue

There and back again, hot weather cycling and a fun commute..

Rode my Specialized P1 AM to work today and what an excellent ride it was!

I don’t often to get to ride a responsive and light bike, mostly riding (through practical necessity) my Xtracycle. While I love this bike, the ride and the handling, the Xtracycle is quite heavy, is built to haul things over long distances, and it is not particularly fast.

The P1 AM on the other hand, is fast and comfortable over long distances while still offering a really fun and responsive ride. On the way to work I… Continue

A cycling vision for the future of Adelaide

What sort of city do we want Adelaide to be and how do we get there?

Adelaide needs a bicycle culture; Adelaide needs infrastructure that will encourage a bicycle culture. Unfortunately some infrastructure planers will only base infrastructure on past trends and current usage patterns. There is little or no crystal ball gazing, or designing to create a future, not just in terms of infrastructure, but more importantly, the culture that infrastructure would create.

Let us have a little thought e… Continue

HI Jeremy!

I just saw your welcome message on my board from back in October last year. It's taken me a while to get the hang of this whole computer thing :P

I'm nursing sore legs from the BikeSA Grand Slam 1 at the moment - 86km through mountainous terrain and lots of head and cross winds. What fun! Only way to improve though.

Cycle on,

Thanks bro!

It's going to be a good weekend. Just wrapping the bikes in mega bubble wrap and boxing them up now.

I'll see you in middle of next week!
