"In the photo appears to be 5 bicycle rails, or parking space for 10 customers. Replace with car parking and likely 2 people in one car. Now that makes economic sense, as well as encouraging Active Transport!!!"

Disappearing cycle parking

You may have noticed on-road cycle parking beginning to disappear out of the City of Adelaide (like the busy cycling area on Rundle Street) ...On 11th April a motion was put to ACC THAT:1.administration remove ALL permanent on road bicycle parking spots and infrastructure and relocate it onto footpaths and kerbs;2. where practicable all road bicycle parking spots are to be immediately converted to loading zones or 1/4 hr parking spots.According to the ACC minutes Part 1 of the motion was…See More

Frome Street Bikeway ... Again

I'm starting a fresh thread because this issue is so important and so urgent. There is a strong cohort of Councillors willing to accept the findings of the Bikeway consultation (see council minutes 29Nov).In a nutshell, that means:- retaining the existing FSB,- rescinding the motion to return Frome Street to 4 lanes,- extending the north-south bikeway at 2.5metres+ and getting on with the East-West Bikeway. These Councillors need our support to keep their resolve in the face of what will be a…See More

Adelaide to Melbourne: Anyone Interested?

Posted on October 30, 2011 at 13:29 3 Comments

Don't know if this is the right place to post this ... but I'm here now, so here goes.

I'm planning on riding Adelaide to Melbourne along the Great Ocean Rd. Setting out on Monday 28 November and taking 10-11 days. I've done this ride on three previous occasions and thought it would be nice to have company this time - perhaps 3 - 4 people along. Let me know if you're interested.
