Profile Information

What bikes do you ride?
Malvern Start Oppy A2.
When do you ride?
Weekends, Commute
..perhaps some more information about yourself for your profile page
A long time rider, back on the bike after being off for a few years. My first bike was a fixie, a long, long time before they were called that. Rode a mtb (but never off road) for a while then life got in the way... decided to get back on the road last December. Mainly ride to and from work and occasionally on the weekend. I ride for fitness and for the pure enjoyment of it. And for the challenge of getting better. I don't own any lycra... yet.

Hi Eugene,

Welcome to Adelaide BUG. This year potential members have asked about rides or social get together and my response has been occasionally when members organise. Next month there is a Prospect BUG event (I coordinate both BUGs). Adelaide BUG and AC members are invited. Perhaps I will see you there.

Cheers, Heather

Saturday 3-Sep-2011 a BYO picnic for Prospect BUG’s second anniversary. Meet at noon at the playground near the Adelaide Aquatic Centre for a leisurely ride to Botanic Park. Arrange your picnic rug on the grass between Botanic Drive and the Zoological Gardens, within sight of a bird aviary. Remember to bring soft drinks and games for your children. RSVP appreciated. How much cake to bring?

One step closer...

Today I took one step closer to becoming a 'proper' cyclist. Today, resplendent in my new Adelaide Cyclists jersey, I ventured out fully clad in lycra for the first time.

What on earth is happening to me? Eighteen months ago I was a public transport catching, Sunday afternoon TV watching regular kind of person. Yes, I watched the Tour de France every year and mused to myself how nice it would be to get back on a bike again. But I…

After about 30 years of riding and who knows how many km, I fell off the bike for the first time about half an hour ago.

Coming round a small roundabout, don't really know what happened, whether the back wheel came out from under me or I was leaning over too far... maybe a combination of both. Anyway, first thing I hear is pedal scraping across the road, and then I was hitting it. No major damage to me, apart from cuts and bruises. Bike seems ok too, apart from the brake hoods -…
