Magpie

Started this discussion. Last reply by Gus K Jul 16, 2010. 7 Replies

I cannot believe that I got swooped by a magpie on the corner of Le Fevre and Kingston last night. It has to be far and away the earliest in the season that has ever happened to me.

Davidtcr replied to wujim's discussion What do you do?
"I'm Configuration Manager for a Defence contractor, currently doing a fair bit of work on the Air Warfare Destroyers that are being built at Osborne - hence my frequent visits to Adelaide from Sydney."

Davidtcr replied to Carmen P.'s discussion Rotor Q-Ring
"Hi Carmen, I've used Q-Rings for a few years now and do like them. For most use the difference is not overly noticable, it is only really noticable at times when you are grinding a bit up hills - which hopefully isn't that…"

Davidtcr replied to Steven Ellison's discussion Post Goal Depression?
"Interesting and timely discussion for me, I am certainly feeling a bit of post goal depression after achieving my time goal for 3 Peaks (even if it was modified with the different course). As I had set a pretty demanding goal I put a lot of work and…"

Davidtcr replied to Matt W's discussion what makes a good road bike?
"I had a 2006 TCR and had the issue that quite a few of the parts were starting to wear out; so I had to look at whether to upgrade or to go for a new bike. Given the price of new bikes compared to the price of components I decided that the new…"

Davidtcr replied to Peter Hill's discussion Who makes this Strava shit up?
"By a dumb segment I mean something that was obviously created (probably automatically) with erroneous data - which is what this thread was originally about. For example a segment in the middle of the Adelaide CBD which claims to be a Cat 4 climb at…"

Davidtcr replied to Peter Hill's discussion Who makes this Strava shit up?
"If they are really dumb segments it is worth reporting them to Strava Support and getting them fixed or deleted - that fixes it for everybody. Mind you it is much easier to identify the dumb segments if you have dumped your Strava data into…"

"I run Q Rotors and really like them; but whether they are any better for your knees I'm not sure."

Davidtcr replied to Brett G-R's discussion Compacts or Standards Poll

Davidtcr replied to Peter Hill's discussion Who makes this Strava shit up?
"Generaly I think these are automated segments that Strava creates whenever it identifies something that it thinks is a climb (in these cases due tro bad data). If you notice these it is good if you can raise them with Strava support and they will…"

Davidtcr replied to snappy_don's discussion Do you use Shimano DI-2?
"I'd be surprised if it is that much, my 2012 TCR with Ultegra DI2 is slightly lighter than my 2006 TCR with standard Ultegra (with the same wheelset)."

Davidtcr replied to snappy_don's discussion Do you use Shimano DI-2?
"The bigger problem is actually how infrequently you have to recharge. Since I have had it (six months) I have recharged twice, once just before I did Amys GF, and then a second time after it finally went flat after around 4 months of use. Recharging…"

Davidtcr replied to snappy_don's discussion Do you use Shimano DI-2?
"I've had Ultegra DI2 for about 6 months now, and absolutely love it. Shifting is very smooth, even under load, and is so precise compared to the standard Ultegra on the old bike.  "

Davidtcr replied to Tim B's discussion Bike handling - skills in the hills
"I think one of the most useful things I have done as far as bike handling skills is to do some mountain biking. Riding on the loose stuff very quickly forces you to learn skills such as setting up for corners properly, braking before the…"

Davidtcr replied to rossmg's discussion 44degC
